About Us

Chris and Sarah

Rising Phoenix's founders, Chris and Sarah, started this company out of their own lived experience. Together, they have 10 kids, 6 of which were adopted out of foster care. While most of their children have done very well, two of them have battled major trauma, mental health, and addiction. As happens all too often, they watched their own kids struggle, powerless to get them the help that they needed, because existing services were limited and their needs were high. In the words of one of those sons, "At least if I go back to prison, I'll be able to get the services I need".

Creating Rising Phoenix was their way of channeling the energy of hurting parents. This was their way of taking power back and fixing the unfixable for the next family that would go through what they went through. Today, one of those adult children is in recovery- a choice that he made to take accountability and control what HE can control. This has been a blessing and a reminder that there is always hope, even in the darkest places..

A New Beginning

Rising Phoenix Genesis seeks to bring both professionalism and innovation to the “non-traditional” human services space.  While there are numerous modalities and “outside the box” solutions that can help someone with their recovery, we anchor our services to what we know is true, using data and evidence-based practices as a guide to navigate the innovative and unfamiliar. This has anchored our efforts to build new and better services, allowing our team to build off what they have seen, experienced, and felt. Our offerings focus on home and community-based services, emphasizing skill building and independence through coaching, peer support, counseling, and supports for parents and family members.

Making a Connection

We have found that sometimes it isn’t what the intervention is that matters; it’s WHO is providing that intervention that makes all the difference. Knowing this, we use a matchmaking process whenever possible to put both our providers and our participants in the best possible position to have success. This means truly getting to know people, seeing them for who they are, and valuing what makes them unique. It is essential that the person providing the service has sufficient background in education, lived experience, professional experience, or a combination of the three. Yet, most importantly, the provider also must have the correct mindset for the work and be relatable or “real”.

Belief

As the Phoenix in our name might suggest, we embrace the transformative process that is possible in each of us. That’s because we have experienced recovery and transformation first-hand.  Whether it’s a seasoned provider with over a decade of experience or a newer provider with an amazing story of lived experience and overcoming adversity, you will be working with someone who knows that recovery and transformation are not only possible; they’re inevitable once you decide to pursue them and believe in them yourself.

Innovation

Human services can feel like an obstacle course — new intake forms, new offices, new people to explain your story to, every time a need changes. We built Rising Phoenix around a different idea: care should move with the family, not the other way around. Whether that means stepping directly from crisis support into steady coaching, or bringing a provider into your home instead of asking your family to come to our office, everything we do is designed to remove friction — one less form, one less transition, one less place to start over.

That's also why so much of our work happens where families actually live — in homes, in communities, in the moments that matter — rather than in a clinical office an hour away. Skills mean more when they're practiced in the same kitchen, the same store, the same routine where they'll actually be used. We didn't build a waiting room. We built a smooth continuum of programs and services that flow together and meet people exactly where they are. This isn’t just a catchphrase or value statement. It’s our entire business model.

Supporting the Entire Family System

A person's struggle is never really just theirs — it moves through parents, siblings, partners, the whole rhythm of a household. That's why our services are built to wrap around the entire family system, not just the person named on the referral. That support is always offered, never imposed. Some families want the whole household involved. Others need support focused tightly on the person referred to us, and that's just as valid. Either way, the option to bring in the rest of the family is always there.

This is true of all of our programs. Whether it's a youth working with CLTS, an adult receiving CCS support, a family navigating a crisis together, or any of our other services, the option is always there for support to extend beyond just the individual. A parent coach may work alongside a youth coach, a family-system approach can be incorporated within individual crisis stabilization, and support for co-dependency can happen alongside services for addiction recovery, all coordinated as one team.

We Take This Work Personally

This team is a collection of professionals who have been impacted by mental health, addiction, or disability in a very personal way. Whether it is a lived experience or a reflection of their desire to help a loved one that slipped through the cracks, our team is driven to make sure that their clients have the tools and services they need to succeed. This isn't just a job for us. It's about giving the next family better than what we had.

Our Team

Rising Phoenix has brought together professionals from a broad range of backgrounds and disciplines. That breadth of knowledge and experience allows to come up with incredibly specific solutions to unique needs and situations. We have staff with well over 30 years in the field, and we also have younger staff whose combination of training, lived experience, and positive energy can really move the needle for our clients. The key is in the matchmaking, putting both our staff and YOU in the best possible position to succeed. Sometimes it isn't what is said, but who is saying it that makes all the difference. This team is full of incedible "who's". We just need to find the right "who" for you.

As a core principle, we recognize that our agency is only as good as the providers in it. This requires not just recruiting great people, but also nurturing them. Providers shouldn’t burn out proving they belong in this field. Better care starts with people who are actually able to keep doing it, and the BEST care comes from staff who are thriving in their roles.

We looked at burnout and the things that cause it- and we learned how to help our staff to thrive.

Built Around the People Doing the Work

We make a concerted effort to properly support our staff through the good times and the bad. Training is prioritized, and we have built a culture around learning. We pay for competency, not just credentials, and we pay well relative to the rest of the market. We protect rest, not just productivity, and we maximize the amount of time our staff spend doing what they are best at- serving their clients.

Our staff are seen for the unique strengths they have as individuals, and we give our staff the ability to choose what works and what doesn’t work for their own schedules, caseload, and client compatibility. Cases are offered and assigned to them based on those strengths and where they may be uniquely qualified to help a particular participant. Our staff also have the supported autonomy they need to be able to confidently make professional judgements, and are professionally coached to build confidence in this area. We promote from within our team, give our staff the opportunity to contribute creatively, and we build our programming around the talented people we have. This continues to be a work in progress for us, but taking care of our staff is a top priority for us as an organization. We take care of them, so they can better serve you.
