Walking the path of the Warrior-Priest
Through martial arts, we’re training peaceful warriors to protect what matters most while remaining at ease in all situations.
Like the phoenix, we rise. Watching a transformation occur in every martial artist that walks through our door is what we live for.
Rising Phoenix is fortunate to have two instructors who bring unique perspectives and different specialties of teaching that compliment each other very well. While Mr. Easton and Mr. Thomason come from contrasting backgrounds and styles, they share a passion for teaching and a commitment to bringing quality martial arts to the Menomonie area.
Mr. Easton started training Taekwondo as a child and used this as a means of overcoming physical limitations that he had at the time. He now holds a 4th Dan rank and is certified as an instructor under Kukkiwon (worldwide Taekwondo governing body). Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that emphasizes kicking, flexibility, athleticism, and competition. This art is beloved by kids and adults alike, combining practical self-defense with a competitive sport aspect that is great for building confidence and poise. It is also a great art for developing flexibility and physical conditioning. Mr. Easton excels at teaching both kids and adults, as well as helping people with physical limitations to get the most out of their potential. His classes are for ages (7+).
Mr. Thomason likewise started training martial arts as a child and is in his 30th year of martial arts training. Holding black belts in 3 different styles, he is both a Sensei and a Sifu, depending on the class he is teaching. He opened Rising Phoenix Martial Arts in Downtown Menomonie in 2017.Mr. Thomason brings a broad base of traditional martial arts styles to his teaching. Starting with classical Okinawan karate as a child, he fell in love with the internal Chinese arts in 2012. Having learned from many martial arts styles, his goal as a teacher is not to blend them, but to educate the student on the unique strategies and philosophy each art has, relative to other styles. Mr. Thomason's classes are taught in small sections and are geared for adults. Using humor and emphasizing practical application, Mr. Thomason seeks to breathe life into classic arts that are often misunderstood.
**Please note: Mr. Thomason has not fully returned to teaching following a significant (non-martial arts related) injury. He looks forward to offering classes to the public in the future, but for now, his classes are limited to an invitation-only basis while he continues to recover**.
No matter your experience, we want to empower you through thoughtful teaching and a safe, inclusive atmosphere. To inquire about our class offerings or to schedule a FREE FIRST CLASS, please call Mr. Tyler Easton at (414) 688-3037.

Taekwondo is great for developing balance and coordination, along with discipline, sportsmanship, and life skills. Taught by Mr. Easton, a 4th degree black belt, these classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays 5:45-7:15 pm.

These classes are geared for adults, teaching classical katas and practical self-defense. *These offerings will return soon*
All students begin with the Foundations class appropriate for their age group and advance to the subsequent classes through promotion and invitation.
